Investment Note:

Anakie Longview - Victorian Natural Capital Bushland Asset

We have completed a significant natural capital investment, securing the long term protection of close to 600 hectares of high conservation value native bushland located just west of Melbourne, adjoining Brisbane Ranges National Park.

This investment represents our ideal outcome for both investors and nature, combining strong commercial returns with the permanent protection of critical habitat for threatened and vulnerable arboreal species native to the region.

The site is strategically positioned on the edge of a nationally significant conservation area and plays a critical role in ecological resilience, one of our focal points at Dragonfly.

What Makes This a Compelling Natural Capital Investment?

Australia’s natural capital and biodiversity markets are rapidly evolving. A report by PwC Australia estimates that an Australian biodiversity market could unlock up to AU$137 billion in financial flows by 2050.

As biodiversity markets mature and regulatory frameworks continue to evolve, demand is set to grow from corporates, governments, and financiers. The quality, location, and ecological integrity of biodiversity assets will be central to long term value creation.

This asset was identified as a target investment due to:

  • Established native vegetation and habitat critical to arboreal species

  • Strong commercial fundamentals, demonstrating that conservation and returns can go hand in hand

  • Future market alignment, positioning the asset to meet emerging biodiversity, offset requirements, and nature-positive investment demands

  • Strategically adjacent to protected land, enhancing conservation outcomes.

Positively Impacting the Landscape

Protecting the Anakie Longview bushland ensures the long term conservation of habitat for threatened species whilst contributing to broader regional biodiversity outcomes. By creating safety for a large area of native vegetation, this investment supports ecosystem resilience, climate adaptation, and the preservation of Australia’s natural heritage.

We would like to sincerely acknowledge Annette Rypalski and our Chairman, Nigel Sharp, for identifying this unique opportunity and for their leadership in bringing the transaction to fruition. Their deep expertise in conservation, habitat preservation, and natural capital was instrumental in achieving this outcome.
