A Day with Dragonfly Enviro Capital
Recently, we invited our shareholders, investors, and team to visit Melbourne Skyfarm and Mount Rothwell Conservation Sanctuary – two of our investment sites that demonstrate the environmental and social outcomes made possible when capital is directed with purpose.
Melbourne Skyfarm - A Lived Circular Economy Experience
Melbourne Skyfarm has transformed 2,000 square metres of underutilised rooftop in the Docklands into a working urban farm. Each year, the site is projected to produce up to 5 tonnes of fresh, organic produce, a lot of which is donated to OzHarvest to support food relief programs across the city.
In addition to growing and donating food, the site is designed to function as an educational and events hub, a case study in urban growing, and a demonstration of what’s possible when sustainability is integrated into the built environment. The Skyfarm team took us for a tour and shared their vision of educating thousands of school kids in the techniques they are using to grow food, once opened to the public.
Melbourne Skyfarm is a clear example of circular, regenerative design - and how previously overlooked assets can be activated to deliver environmental, economic, and community value. Set to open in Spring 2025, enquiries for events, education programs, and guided tours can be made via their website at www.melbourneskyfarm.org.au.
After our morning exploration of Melbourne Skyfarm and morning tea on the roof top, our group took a chartered bus down to Little River to visit Mount Rothwell for lunch, a bush walk and some afternoon tea.
Mt Rothwell - Biodiversity Recovery in Action
Mt Rothwell Conservation Sanctuary is the largest feral predator-free ecosystem in Victoria, covering 473 hectares of protected landscape. Managed by Odonata Foundation, the site plays a critical role in national species recovery efforts.
It is home to over 80% of the mainland Eastern Barred Bandicoot population, a species that was once declared extinct in the wild. Other threatened species on-site include the Southern Brush-tailed Rock-wallaby and the Eastern Quoll. All are actively monitored, supported, and protected through robust conservation protocols.
The Mt Rothwell team are deeply dedicated to achieving real, tangible results in one of Australia’s most delicate and ecologically important landscapes and we loved getting to see some of their efforts live in action.
Dragonfly’s Portfolio - We Invest Where the Outcomes Speak for Themselves
Both Melbourne Skyfarm and Mt Rothwell are clear illustrations of projects that deliver long term impact, address real system level challenges, and create commercial returns.
These are not one off stories, they are part of a growing portfolio of assets that demonstrate how environmental regeneration, biodiversity protection, and community value creation can achieve best-in-class returns.
